Concerned Citizen Watch Meeting

The Fort Wayne Police have a scheduled Concerned Citizen Watch (CCW) training session/meeting on September 17th at their headquarters on Creighten Ave. Currently, there are many openings for a class. In light of the recent home invasion robbery and shooting right here in our neighborhood, and other crimes in the area, we would like to invite anyone who has interest to contact Jerry Deckard (email Jerry@bryher.com or phone 744-9720) or Cindy McAfee (email CindyEMT1@bryher.com or phone 744-1339) for a form to register and attend this class.

Remember to keep your porch lights on and know your neighbors and your neighbor’s cars. The Desk Sergeant’s number for non emergency calls is 427-1222.

Special Points of Interest

CCW Patrols neighborhoods and alerts the police of suspicious activity.

The rental covenant would limit the rental properties in Harrison Hill to those that currently exist.

The October 1st Board Meeting will set dates and times for our Halloween party and we'll discuss neighborhood code, safety and Christmas plans.

Dues

The Harrison Hill Neighborhood Association uses voluntary dues of $25 from each household to pay for lighting in the easements, dirt day, dumpster day, repair and upkeep of the entrances, newsletters and occasional neighborhood celebrations.

If you haven’t paid your 2002 dues, or if you don’t remember whether you have paid, please contact Tim Dykehouse at 456-2611 or mail a check to

Harrison Hill Association
P.O. Box 10444
Fort Wayne, IN 46852-0444

Current funds are low enough that the neighborhood faces having to turn off the streetlights in the easements. The resulting cover of darkness will only aid the criminals in the area.

Halloween Party

We will be having a Halloween party again this year, with date and time to be determined at our October meeting. Also we will be discussing our annual Christmas caroling and possibly a Christmas Potluck. Neighborhood parties and get togethers are an excellent way meet your neighbors which helps to secure our neighborhood.

E-Mail Alerts

If you’re an Internet user, please send us your e-mail address us at hh@bryher.com so we can put you on our E-mail alerts list. If you filled out the email form at the neighborhood party at the school, then you should already have received a few email alerts.

Anytime we get breaking news that affects our neighborhood, or want to remind the neighborhood of meetings or upcoming events, we will be sending e-mails to spread the word more easily and cheaply than paper flyers.

The Email address of the E-mail alert list is HHAlert@bryher.com (capital letters make no difference) and it is open for anyone to mail to. So if you have a lost pet or a lost wallet, notice anything you think your neighborhood should be aware of, or want to announce an upcoming event yourself, mailing to HHAlert@bryher.com will redirect your mail to everyone on the E-mail alert list.

We currently have about 25 names on the Harrison Hill E-mail alert list. As this number grows we will also be able to email newsletters to households and save on the cost of paper and better our speed of delivery.

We will try to guard this address against junk mail as much as possible.
